Submarine sitting

When I was given the opportunity by my dear friend Ali to create felted wool beanbags for her PHD end presentation i was delighted ,not knowing what would be a had of me creating three large Beanbags for the sound installation room.

The presentation was to be in may so i had about three months to do my part and i needed all that time,I was new to felting ,just learning when I took on this big job.
I got a bit injured because of the circular movements I had to make with my hands, after the project i found out there were tools available to make the process of making felt go quicker.

There were pieces of felt everywhere ...so I had rest underneath.

before I started to sew the pieces together.

The making flourished.
a look into the white room.

listening to sounds coming from the parabolic speakers, the whole purpose for the position of the beanbags was so people could listen to underwater sounds coming from the speakers in a relaxed mode.

.my friends exhibition was called :in another light and the theme taken was the movement of kelp or for me: underwater tree's. As kids do playing with the beanbags was fun.In between I did manage to make us costumes to look the part,I am wearing a creation inspired by seaweed,my dear friend Ali is wearing a creation inspired by jelly fish.To have been able to work on something so big has been such a privilege for me ,we had a lot of fun too My doctor friend Ali is very dear to me ...i do not know if I ever will make a beanbag again but never say never,in the meantime Dingo has taken over the beanbag as being his favorite sleeping place (of course).I also could not have done this project without the moral support from my lovely sister.

Dear is the casurina to my soul

But not because of its magnificence
Dear is the Casuarina to my soul:
Beneath it we have played; though years may roll,
O sweet companions, loved with love intense,
For your sakes, shall the tree be ever dear!
Blent with your images, it shall arise
In memory, till the hot tears blind mine eyes!
What is that dirge-like murmur that I hear
Like the sea breaking on a shingle-beach?
It is the tree's lament, an eerie speech,
That haply to the unknown land may reach Toru Dutt 1856-1877

Not because of love but because of sound this tree takes me back in time when I slept on deserted beaches.
I was only seventeen when I traveled up to Arnhem land (Arnhem Land, Australia, is Aboriginal homeland at the Australian Top End east of Darwin). our hearts were courage's and young and fear did not exist,I slept everywhere i lay my head never thinking of what might be hiding in our wild bush ,so I never did see any danger,no spiders, snakes, crocs we just cruised along in the jeep and picked out the most beautiful places to stay for a while.
After a while being in nature we lost all interest for materialism i think there were moments I can recall as the happiest time in my life so far,our trip lasted for three months and I have a few nice story's to tell if you want?? artwork by me,pen drawing from a long time ago

Dingo king of the castle

A little story about a handsome cat called Dingo.
One day four years ago after contemplating it for over ten years I decided I was ready to have a cat in my live, and what a good decision that was honestly!..he was curled up at the Rspca and the lady showing me all the kittens said: ooh the Grey one (Dingo) no one wants him he is very vocal, I will have him then thank you he is the one! he came home and he owned the place strait away and ever since he is the king of the castle.
Now i dont mind anything he does I think all is funny ( except bringing in wildlife) but let me tell you he demands us to get up in the middle of the night to let him in and early morning when he is well rested but we are fast asleep demands to be let out with loud calls,ha ha??? ..well Mostly it is my sister who gets up ( every night) she is a light sleeper she does not laugh but she just go's along with it ha ha ???.
He is also very jealous does not want me to talk with people and especially on the phone when he hears me talking on the phone ( I dont know how he knows) he comes running down the hall screaming for help! ha ha ??? I think it is so cute but demands to be stroked and kissed and to be told he is great, I become all nervous on the phone you know it is like having a child on your lab.
when I start talking about My little boy Dingo you will be here till tomorrow and the day after to listen what I have to say about the daily routines of my life with Pinkie ( his nick name).

So I will tell a story or two so now and then about my friend Dingo. click picture to enlarge
I do not believe we are more or less then our fellow four legged friends, what do you think?

Tree

The sky was pink from rim to rim with rosy clouds, that send their glow on to the tips of the tree tops and awakened all the birds of the neighbourhood into song.
from: a bush calender April.

There is one good thing about not sleeping well at night,
I get too enjoy different hours of a day.

The morning glimpse of the sun which i see rising with the light of a candle
The morning songs of birds more then I can Imagine living in a city
Dingo purring away with me as his pillow.
I try too see the positive of not having good nights of sleep lately,it will pass I know.

Sometimes when I lay my head to rest at night,
when i feel the day was not that great

Distance

This word has been on my mind this week actually more what it means to me.
Distance is relative when you tune in it does not matter where you are you can sense what other people are somehow feeling ,people who are close to you,on the other side of the world or, in the room next to yours and on the other site of the computer screen.I find this fascinating how this works in our world but do I want to have an explanation or read about it or,do I just want to believe that we are more then mind, body and soul that our spirit is actually a had of us and we are catching up a little later to be confirmed that what we where feeling or and thinking was right! I have had enough experiences to believe that "Distance is Relative".
I wonder if you had any experiences that confirms this ?
Or what is your opinion on this?

Proud to present "zebra stones"

The unique Zebra Stone has been placed at 600 million years in the Upper Proterozoic era or Pre-Cambrian period. The only known deposits in the world have been discovered in the East Kimberleys, Western Australia.

The stone consists of a fine grained siliceous argillite (indurated siltstone or clay stone) with rhythmic patterns of red bands or spots contrasting sharply with a lighter background. It is not known how the regular patterns were formed, but the red stripes are colored by ferric (iron) oxide. Geologists have investigated Zebra Stone without producing any valid explanation of its origin. The stone's unsurpassed natural beauty typifies the color and spirit of Australia and some have said the stone has a special quality bringing luck. Most occurrences are now submerged beneath the dam waters of Lake Argyle. Since its discovery in 1924, it has been used widely as an ornamental stone.picture 1/. The first zebra stone was given to me by my mother ,she secretly pushed the stone in my hand and said: this one will bring you luck.picture 2/my collection.

The zebra stone is a jewel from a different kind i look at my collection often and love the mystery surrounding them, they feel so clean but robust and the patterns are so from another world ,I have fallen for this stone. picture from the web

Info on the zebra stone found at the world library.

Viva la frivolite # 3

Two more pages finished of my little felted book.
.
I have done a bit of rescuing, First this beautiful peace of art I felt so lucky I found this in the op shop.

I thought i used up all of my luck but gave it another try a few day's later and.....
Another peace so beautiful I had to think of this lady or maybe man tatting this into a perfect composition of knots..so far i have only found one spot where you can see some sewing in I treasure this one dearly so....

I had to take a picture of dingo dreaming away under a landscape of flowers.
This has been a great finding treasures week so far.

Now i am going to my ballroom class.

But my neck is a bit crook.
Maybe if I shake it a bit,or walk up strait.
perhaps a little less of internet will do the trick?
But i am addicted to blogland can"t you see.
And everything I want to know is in my little box
Day and night in front of me.

Single Tree

I am one single tree, grown tall with complicated patterns, one strong tree colorful and free.
I am one Tree, standing tall with whispering leaves.
I am one Tree who has whispered and spoken up loud depending on the wind, a tree who has found a place to just hang out in silence, the whispering has stopped for now because there is no breeze to make her sing.
